Michelle Chamberlain is a licensed mental health counselor in the state of Washington, with
experience in working with individuals, couples, families, and groups on a variety of issues,
including: depression, anxiety, trauma/abuse, marital concerns, adjustments to life transitions,
career transitions, loss of a loved one, parenting skills, life coaching, eating disorders, and
gender/sexual identity and orientation.
Michelle’s approach to therapy incorporates a person centered/strength based approach with a
cognitive behavioral theoretical orientation while holding positive regard for all clients. After
fifteen years of working with individuals in the criminal justice system, Michelle’s focus with
clients hinges on the concept that people are more than their past trauma and unhealed
emotional wounds. Michelle believes people have the ability and resilience to overcome and
work through life’s challenges and find fulfillment.
Michelle’s approach to therapy is holistic in nature. She is passionate about treating and helping
the whole person through establishing a warm, positive and empathetic therapeutic relationship.
She views counseling as a collaborative effort in helping clients recognize their strengths,
identify needs, understand conflicts, discover new options, set personal development goals, and
make informed choices that are congruent with the client’s values.

Masters in Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling: University of the Southwest
Bachelors or Arts in Public Affairs, minor in criminal justice: Washington State University
