Counselor

Bio

After over fifteen years of working in the mental health field, I have come to believe that
counseling is a collaborative process centered in relationship. Through connection, we can gain
insight and knowledge, find meaning and become more known. My approach is person-centered
focusing on genuineness, warmth, empathy, unconditional acceptance, and respect. My goal is to
create a safe and supportive environment where you feel comfortable to use self-exploration to
become aware of blocks to growth. My hope is that together we can work through these blocks
gaining skills and strategies to help you reach your goals. To facilitate this process, I incorporate
techniques and interventions from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Adlerian Therapy,
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and attachment based approaches. Combining these
approaches allows individuals to better understand themselves while considering the social and
cultural environments in which they are embedded.
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Washington and a Licensed Professional
Counselor (LPC) in the states of Oregon. I have a Ph.D. in Counseling and Educational
Psychology and a Master of Arts in Community Counseling and have been practicing as a
counselor since 2006. I have training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing
(EMDR) and am currently working on becoming fully certified. Additionally, I have training in
marriage and family therapy, play therapy and perinatal mood disorders.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband, two children and pets (two dogs and
two cats) and traveling as much as possible.
