Counselor

Bio

Prior to obtaining his counseling degree, Chris gained experience during undergrad as a researcher at an outpatient Dialectical Behavior Therapy office, worked at an inpatient drug and alcohol rehab, and graduated with a Bachelors degree in Psychology and an emphasis in Neuroscience. Chris later obtained an MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Western Washington University, a CACREP accredited program, in 2018. After graduating, Chris worked as a counselor for high-risk clients in a community mental health setting, before being given the honor and responsibility of becoming a supervisor.
Throughout his professional career, Chris has developed a range of experience working with a diverse array of clients. Chris has experience working with clients who are struggling with the effects of Depression, Anxiety, Trauma, Substance use, Self-harm, Stress-management, Relationship concerns, Stage-of-life changes, Gender and Cultural related concerns, and so on.
Chris believes that the first step toward making meaningful change is being heard. This means that each of his clients are treated with dignity, respect, and compassion. It is therefore his goal to provide each person with whom he works a safe and understanding environment that takes into consideration all of the factors resulting in them being where they are in their lives. Chris prides himself in his ability to cater his therapeutic style to best fit each client's needs. He draws from multiple empirically supported practices such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Existential Therapy, Mindfulness/Meditation, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and so on. Chris's goal is to provide a service that best fits each client's needs, believing that each client is the expert in their own lives. Chris is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and Mental Health Professional (MHP) in the state of Washington, and a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) from the National Board of Certified Counselors.
Outside of the office, Chris enjoys leading an active and athletic lifestyle. He enjoys going to the gym, watching and playing soccer, backpacking, camping, hiking, cooking, gardening, and socializing with friends and loved ones.
