Bio

Sage Rose, MSW.  He/Him & They/Them

I earned my Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Social Sciences in 2022 and my Master of Social Work in 2024, both from Portland State University. My professional journey in mental health began in a residential treatment setting, where I worked for four years as a Residential Counselor supporting adults experiencing severe and persistent mental health challenges. During my Master’s program, I completed internships in alternative and special education school settings, and later worked in an alternative high school as a Student Engagement Coordinator, providing mental health education and direct student support.

Through these experiences, I developed strong skills in de-escalation, trauma-informed care, therapeutic interventions, and wrap-around services.  More importantly, I learned the value of slowing down, building authentic connection, and truly seeing and hearing the people I work with—while also prioritizing self-care and sustainability in this work.

My areas of focus include youth, adolescents, and young adults, particularly those navigating special education systems. I support individuals experiencing Autism, ADHD, PTSD, trauma, grief, depression, anger management challenges, and members of the LGBTQIA2S+ community. I am passionate about creating affirming, inclusive spaces where clients feel safe to explore their identities and experiences.

My therapeutic approach integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), narrative therapy, person-centered therapy, attachment-based work, and the use of music as a tool for expression and healing. I believe therapy should be collaborative, strengths-based, and tailored to each individual’s needs.

No matter where this path takes me, I will always be committed to mental health and feel honored to walk alongside othersin their growth and healing.
