Jannea Mantz, LMHCA

Bio

Jannea earned her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Capella University. She also holds a bachelor's degree in Neuroscience with a minor in Psychology. Her education has provided her with a strong foundation in understanding human behavior, the relationship between the brain and emotional well-being, and the importance of authentic human connection.

Prior to becoming a mental health counselor, Jannea gained extensive experience working with neurodivergent children, adolescents, and families in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Her professional background includes working as a Behavior Specialist, developing individualized behavioral support plans, implementing evidence-based interventions, and collaborating with families and multidisciplinary teams. Through this work, she developed a deeper appreciation for the ways in which individual experiences, relationships, environments, and neurological differences influence emotional and behavioral health. Her background in both neuroscience and behavioral health informs her holistic, individualized approach to counseling.

Jannea has experience supporting individuals navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, emotional regulation difficulties, relationship challenges, identity exploration, and significant life transitions. She is particularly passionate about working with young adults, LGBTQIA+ individuals, neurodivergent clients, and those navigating complex family or relationship dynamics. She is committed to providing LGBTQIA+ affirming, culturally responsive, and inclusive care, recognizing that each person's experiences, identity, and relationships deserve to be understood and respected.

Jannea believes that meaningful therapeutic change begins with feeling genuinely heard, understood, and accepted. She strives to create a welcoming, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel comfortable exploring their thoughts, emotions, relationships, and experiences without fear of criticism. Her approach is collaborative, compassionate, and grounded in the belief that clients are the experts on their own lives. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, Jannea works alongside her clients to identify their strengths, understand patterns that may be contributing to distress, and develop practical tools that support personal growth and emotional well-being.

Her therapeutic style is integrative, drawing primarily from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), while incorporating elements of Person-Centered Therapy, and mindfulness-based interventions. She also utilizes a trauma-informed and multicultural perspective, recognizing the influence of personal history, family systems, culture, identity, and lived experiences on mental health. Jannea believes therapy should be tailored to the individual, balancing evidence-based techniques with empathy, flexibility, and genuine connection.

Above all, Jannea recognizes that seeking counseling can feel vulnerable, particularly when someone has experienced judgment, misunderstanding, or difficulty finding a place where they truly belong. Her goal is to provide a supportive therapeutic relationship where clients can explore challenges, build confidence, develop healthier coping strategies, and move toward lives that feel more authentic, fulfilling, and meaningful.
