Hello, my name is Samantha.
I believe that my clients already have everything they need to achieve the life they want. I believe that there is a need within each of us to thrive and overcome internal conflict. However, due to stress, crises, and lack of insight, we are not always capable of achieving this on our own. I help individuals address roadblocks on their way to achieving rewarding and fulfilling lives. My purpose is to walk alongside you on your path and to help you discover and/or regain your vision and direction in life.
I understand that your path may become clouded with negative thinking, self-doubt, depression, anxiety, self-destructive behaviors or trauma. My services assist adults and children through some of these difficult challenges. With clients, I utilize a holistic approach focusing on your cognition and the impact it has on your behaviors. My hope is for you to have self-fulfillment and personal growth.
I have experience working with individuals and families in a variety of settings to include: sexual/physical abuse victims, domestic violence victims, adolescents, couples, and families with everyday problems. I am fluent in English and Swahili and have worked with immigrant families and the unique struggles of adjustment that they experience.
I am currently a graduate student in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at Oregon State University where I am completing my practicum/internship at Real Life Counseling. My other role in the community involves advocating and assisting victims of domestic violence to navigate the criminal justice system. When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my husband and an American Bobtail cat. I also like listening to music and spending time with friends and family.
