I believe that each of us has creative potential that sometimes gets stifled by circumstances and challenges. Even health imbalances are only a setback that when well managed can be lived with allowing people full and satisfying lives. I would like to help you unlock your potential so that you can be happy with the “you” that you can be.
As a youth counselor in a multicultural practice providing substance use counseling for 7 years prior to my mental health practice, I am familiar with how families, communities, and culture can affect our balance, perspective, satisfaction, and joy in life; and I have seen how not getting basic emotional needs met can lead to dysfunctional coping and in really bad cases, even mental illness. I left a successful corporate sales management job to pursue counseling with the hope to give back to my community, connect with others, and share the joy that I have found in my life.
As a youth counselor, I ran school programs for three years, coordinating with the Educational School Districts (ESD), school administrators, and prevention specialists. My almost 2 years experience serving at a co-occurring residential treatment facility also provided great diagnostic experience allowing me to work with the highest acuity levels short of hospitalization.
Together we can work through whatever challenges it is you need to move through. Although I am happy to assist with whatever concern you might be facing, I have certain credentialing that sets me apart like Substance Use Disorder (SUD) counseling, SUD Prevention (similar to public health), trauma services including Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and Persistent Mental Illnesses like Depression, Bipolar, Schizophrenia, and Schizoaffective disorder. (Coordinating with other practitioners is not a hang-up, either.)
I also am very comfortable with adjusting to life changes, seasons of transition, finding purpose, exploring your spiritual walk and achieving more of your personal ambitions. Although I’m a Christian, people of various beliefs and walks of life have come to me for counseling support and felt the benefits.
I have also been complimented for being very skilled in working with children and youth and served with state and federal administration in Substance Use Prevention programs earning my International Accreditation.
