About Our Practice

We seek to serve our entire community. As such, our practice is not built around a single specialty. Instead, Real Life Counseling is a place where absolutely anybody can find a qualified counselor and receive help.

Our Counseling Services

We’ll help you no matter your background. We offer our services to all ages and types of people: women and men, children and teens, couples and families and everyone who falls in between. We focus on Depression, Anxiety, Trauma, Grief and Loss issues, as well counseling for the LGBTQ community.

Training and Continuous Growth

Future counselors are trained in an extensive internship program, and current counselors are trained as they earn their license for practice. This adds up to an environment where everyone is constantly pushing to better their skills, where independent counselors can thrive.

Our Focus is You

Instead of getting caught up in the distractions of running a business, such as insurance billing or administrative procedures, our counselors focus on what they do best: counseling. This is possible because Real Life Counseling provides executive services to our team. This allows our team to direct their energy to where it matters most: our clients.

Our Service Area

Currently, we are serving Clark County with offices in several school districts. These include Battleground, Evergreen, and Washougal. In addition, we have established offices in East Vancouver and Battleground.

Our History

Joseph Klemz, a practicing counselor, founded Real Life Counseling in April of 2010 in Camas, Washington. Before starting his own practice, he worked for five years in community mental health, serving adolescents and families with severe mental problems. From this background, he developed a desire to positively impact the community and create change through mental health services. This includes counseling for children, counseling for teens, and counseling for men and women in all walks of life.

The practice has moved six times since its inception until we found our current home. From closet-sized offices to dealing with an ant invasion, to having a band as a neighbor – we’ve seen it all and then some. No matter the situation, we still managed to serve our community well.

Our vision is to inspire and empower change in our clients. We focus on guiding our clients to rally their strengths, discover new strengths and ideas so that you can first overcome and second reach your goals.
